TRANSPORTATION

Transport or transportation is called (from the Latin trans, "across, and portare" carry ") to transfer somewhere else an item, generally persons or property, but also a fluid. Transport is a key activity in the development of mankind.

The means of transportation are air, land, rail and river.

Modes are combinations of networks, vehicles and operations. Include walking, cycling, car, road network, railways, inland waterways and maritime transport (ships, waterways and ports), air transport (airplanes, airports and air traffic control), even the union of several or all three types of transport.

According to the modes of transport, goods are classified or categorized in:

     * Road transport: pedestrians, bicycles, automobiles and other vehicles without rails.
     * Transportation by rail: [rertw [rolling stock]] on railways.
     * Inland waterway transport: Maritime and river transport.
     * Aviation: aircraft and airports.
